Celebrating Bay Area Independent & Experimental Dance Music

Following a year of monthly parties bringing together artists across different corners of the Bay's underground, we're proud to present a compilation of 14 artists who've helped us keep things loose.

Loose Conditions is a dance music experiment born entirely out of accident and maintained through love, curiosity, and play. Residents Gadder and marr0w met on a whim to play an awful show on a busted sound system, and it was a lot of fun. So much fun, in fact, that they kept at it, slowly becoming more adventurous and challenging each other along the way. Eventually, they began to put shows together bringing the local artists they admired with little regard for genre, style, region, or clique. The result is a series of unforgettable nights showcasing the magic of the Bay, with each artist encouraged to let loose - whatever that meant to them.

This compilation catalogues the production work of many of those artists. The result is an album that ranges from dynamic ambient techno to experimental bass music to punk rock gabber and much much more. The artists represent many of the bay's dance music communities, from fresh upstarts to seasoned veterans. Loose Conditions is excited to share this work - it represents the love and talent of artists we truly admire.

Proceeds from the album will go to MUA - Mujeres Unidas y Activas based in Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood. MUA is a grassroots organization of Latina immigrant women with a double mission of promoting personal transformation and building community power for social and economic justice.
